Where We Are and What We Service

VSA Highway Maintenance Ltd. operates out of five highway maintenance facilities that service the Nicola and Fraser Divisions of Service Area 14. The VSA Operations Office is in Merritt, with Foreman depots in Lytton, Logan Lake, Coldwater, and Elkhart.

VSA Highway Maintenance Ltd. provides road, highway, bridge and structure maintenance for large portions of the Coquihalla Highway, Phase 1 and Phase 2 from Portia to Walloper; the Lac Le Jeune/Logan Lake Overpass, and the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to the Pennask Summit.

The Company provides service to Highway 8, Merritt to Spences Bridge, Highway 97C Merritt to Logan Lake and Highway 1, and the Trans Canada from Spences Bridge to Lytton and beyond to Jackass Mountain.

As well as the main highway routes, VSA also maintains a large network of rural roads, including school bus routes and local area commuter road interconnects.

Winter Road & Highway Maintenance

Winter driving presents many challenges to drivers in British Columbia. A large proportion of inter-regional drivers use the highway transportation system through Service Area 14 to access the Interior and other regions of BC. VSA provides winter road and highway maintenance, providing for plowing, sanding, inspection, and patrol of the transportation system. Our employees and equipment work up to 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Depending on actual or forecasted weather and road and highway conditions, VSA will plow and/or apply winter abrasives and chemical agents to supply safe driving conditions and traction for drivers.

VSA uses an array of equipment to provide many different time and weather sensitive services. Equipment and attachments include front plows, underbody plows, wing plows, and extendable underbodies. Traction materials are dispensed with spinners and sprayers. Application and use of each device and material is designed to provide the best possible solution to provision of a safe road or highway.

Winter Driving Tips

Please use the links on this website to plan your journey through the VSA Service Area. Current weather, road, and highway conditions are available on the website. New services implemented include area specific webcams showing current conditions. Remember to allow extra time when travelling during the winter season; conditions can change at any time.

Please drive to the conditions that you see or perceive on your trip. Winter conditions demand that everyone control their speed and be alert for changing conditions that may effect control of the vehicle.
